Sometimes The Lord highlights a topic to you that makes you realize this needs to be revisited and shared!!!
On Thursday, September 17, 2026, I had another follow up doctor visit for my fibula I broke on Mother’s Day this year. The technician that was taking my x-ray had taken it one time before too. The first time Josh did my x-ray I had him pick a You Are Card and he got the one that says You Are PERFECT. He thought it was so cool since he and his kids say that to each other daily. It stuck with me. So, when I saw him this time we chatted about that. I told him that I don’t think people should be so focused on PERFECTION, but instead should focus on EXCELLENCE. In my opinion perfection can paralyze a person. If they cannot do things ‘perfectly’ in their eyes they choose not to do anything at all and can allow that to make them believe they aren’t capable. Instead I believe we should focus more on being people of EXCELLENCE. That means showing up and doing our best in that moment; not a skewed version of ‘perfection’, but truly being EXCELLENT. I have said this to my children often over the years and even as adults now I speak it to them often…”Keep being a person of excellence.”
After that conversation with Josh, he completely agreed that would be a much better way to look at things…AND THEN…I had him pick another ‘random’ You Are Card…AND GUESS WHICH ONE HE GOT???
YOU ARE EXCELLENT!!!!!!
Truly cannot make that up!!! He and I were both wide eyed and saying WOW…I ABSOLUTELY LOVE how God works!!! I am 100% certain that Josh will go throughout the rest of his life being a person of EXCELLENCE and teaching his children the same thing and then they will teach their children and so on.
So, that was a very COOL event…AND THEN…I wake up to an email today where someone had made a comment on a blog post I had written at therevolutionpaper.com. That short blog post was from January 1, 2016!!! Nearly 11 years ago! Take a WILD GUESS on what it was about???
EXCELLENCE>PERFECTION
Seriously though…God must really be trying to get my attention on this topic. I had COMPLETELY forgotten I had even written that.
I am going to end with this…
Choose to be a Person of Excellence. Wake up each day being motivated to be and do your best; not your siblings best, not your spouses best, not your co-workers best, not your friends best…BUT Your BEST! Focus on doing all things with EXCELLENCE. Be the one with great Character and Integrity! We are in a world that is paralyzing people with comparison and not measuring up in their eyes. We Have Got To Stop That!!! All you should ever compare yourself to is who you were yesterday.
People of Excellence walk out life with Integrity and great character. They have a moral compass and choose to do the right thing WAY MORE OFTEN than not. Be that person. If you haven’t been that person in your past CHOOSE to be that person TODAY and all the rest of the days of your life!!!
